Should You Play Lottery Online

A lottery online is a game of chance where the players choose a set number of random numbers and if those numbers are drawn the player who has chosen them wins.

As an example in a play 5 game the player would choose 5 random numbers 2-67-84-23-45 and when the lottery drawing occurs, usually once per week, if the numbers that are drawn match all five of the players numbers then the player wins. The odd of winning such a game depends on how many players there are for the game and the payout amounts often vary wildly.

Many of the online games however are little more than scams. The lotteries are run as email farms. An email farm is a place that collects email addresses and sells them to businesses. The businesses buy them so that they have places to send all that junk email and spam ads you are constantly clearing away from Yahoo and Hotmail and other sites.

If these places actually paid out the winnings it would not be so bad. Really who would not put up with a little junk mail if it came with $100,000.00? Honestly most of us would read junk mail 8 hours a day for a year for that kind of pay check. Unfortunately the majority of these places do not bother to payout the big winners so the only good thing is they are usually free to play.

There are actually legitimate sites to play online lotteries but you have to be careful. Just because a site says "drawings held by XXX state lottery commission every Wednesday" does not mean they are legit. There are however many actual state lotteries that are online and those are legitimate.

While many lottery online sites are scams with low or no payouts of the winnings there are actually some legitimate games on the internet where you can play games such as pick 3. Play 4, and scratch off games as well.
